Join us for one or both dynamic online workshops led by college admissions expert Hayley Burke. With more than a decade of experience - including serving as Assistant Director of Admissions at a top university and now as Director of College Counseling at a private high school. Hayley understands that getting into college takes more than strong grades. It requires insight, strategy, and thoughtful planning. Hayley, has helped students gain admission to Princeton, Oxford, UC Berkeley, UCLA, USC, and many other top colleges. As the first in her family to attend college, she also understands how overwhelming the process can feel.   • Session 1: July 13- 17, 10am - Noon | Common Application In this online workshop students will learn how to craft a compelling narrative that reveals who they are beyond grades and test scores. Through guided brainstorming, structured exercises, and feedback, students will develop an essay topic that feels authentic and memorable.

  • Session 2: July 27-31, 10am - Noon | UC Application & Personal Insight Questions In this online workshop, students will learn how to approach the four required UC PIQs strategically and write responses that highlight their achievements, character, and academic interests. Through guided brainstorming and targeted writing exercises, students will identify their strongest topics and begin drafting multiple PIQ responses. The instructor will hep students understand what UC readers look for and how to structure responses that are clear, vivid, and effective.

Both Courses Offer:

  • Effective brainstorming techniques and step-by-step guidance on outlining, drafting, and revising college application essays

  • Personalized feedback on student writing

  • Structured collaborative group writing sessions

  • Expert advice grounded in current college admissions best practices

Fees, Payment, and Refund Policy

$325 for students enrolled in a Burbank Unified School District high school.
$400 for students enrolled in a non-BUSD high school.

All requests for refunds must be received in writing (via mail or email) no later than June 26. There are no refunds after June 26, unless the workshop is cancelled. Participants will be notified by July 1 for session 1 and July 13 for session 2, if the workshop has been cancelled.

Technology

Students will need access to a desktop computer or laptop for this workshop. The workshop will be conducted via Zoom. Information about how to access the course will be released by July 7.

Class Size

The minimum number of students in the session is 15 students; the maximum number is 20. Once the session is full, you will be added to a waitlist and notified if a spot becomes available. If BAEF does not reach the minimum number of 15 students for a session, we will have to cancel the session.
